Anxiety

You’re worried about what others may think and try to please everybody, sometimes at the cost of your well being. Perhaps perfectionistic tendencies paralyze you instead of being able to take action. You're self critical. You take feedback very hard. You worry about the worse things that could happen. Or intimacy and relationships are a struggle leaving you to feel like you aren’t deserving of a partner who respects your needs. 


Anxiety is a full body experience that can be debilitating. Shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, upset stomach, rapid heartbeat. You have difficulty concentrating. Your mind is caught in a loop thinking about anything other than the present moment. It feels like there is no way out of the spiral of intrusive thoughts. Maybe you begin worrying and it leads to catastrophizing about the future. You become paralyzed with your thoughts finding it difficult to take action. Anxiety interferes with feeling secure in your relationships. It disturbs your work life and capacity to progress forward with life goals. Learn to understand your anxiety and how to manage it to make it useful.

Anxiety has its place in our lives and occasionally it can be a motivator or help us prepare by readying ourselves for what’s to come. Still, too much anxiety can be crippling and draining on the nervous system.
